After three months of doing online promotion, it was so lovely to talk about all the different ways writers and illustrators approach character, in front of a real audience in the outside space of North Street Kitchen in Fowey. The event was organised by Shrew Books as part of Independent Bookshop week and I took the stage with Kate Longman and Sally Atkins who did the drawings for Denzil's sketchbook (the story within the story) in Zed and the Cormorants. The venue overlooks the Fowey River - the setting of the book - so it was the perfect venue too!
