Book Launch for Creatures of a Brief Season

Bar Silo was the perfect venue for the book launch for Creatures of a Brief Season. We had a fantastic turn out and guests ate Moroccan snacks (the book is partly set in Larache and Tangier), sipped from their limited edition book-inspired cocktails (saffron and seasalt margaritas), whilst listening to a conversation between myself and Paul Taylor-McCartney. His insightful questions and enthusiasm for the novel were much appreciated. Afterwards he wrote:
"Creatures of a Brief Season is a book that settles beside you, quietly, and then refuses to leave. I loved the tenderness and honesty of the writing: the way Owen allows Vanessa and Leonard to be contradictory, frustrating, funny and wounded, rather than characters neatly shaped to earn our sympathy. This is a novel about care, ageing, family, regret and the things we carry for far too long ... but also about movement, second chances and the possibility that a life which feels closed down might still open onto somewhere unexpected. There are moments of real sadness here, but what I carried away was hope: not the easy kind, but the sort found in connection, in being seen, and discovering that we are never quite as fixed as we imaging ... Beautifully observed, deeply humane, and quietly unforgettable."
The book is now stocked by all the best independent bookshops in Cornwall (and can of course be orderded from any others), Amazon, Waterstones, or you can purchase directly from the Hermitage Press book shop. https://hermitagepress.co.uk/products/creatures-of-a-brief-season
